Can I transfer ChatGPT memory to another AI?

No. ChatGPT's memory lives inside OpenAI's account and does not export to Claude, Gemini, or anything else. What can move instead is a record you keep yourself, outside any single platform, that you paste into whichever assistant you're using that day.

Why memory doesn't travel between assistants

Memory, in ChatGPT, Claude, or any other assistant, is a feature of that specific product. It is stored on that company's servers, tied to that account, and built to make that one app better at remembering you. There is no shared standard between OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google for what "memory" even means internally, so there is nothing for one company's export to plug into another company's import, even where an export option exists at all.

ChatGPT does have a data export. What it produces is an archive built for your own records, a raw dump of chats and account data, not a structured memory file another AI is built to read and understand. Opening it in Claude does nothing, because Claude was never built to make sense of it.
